Transfiguration Bishop Made to Order Vestment - Ivory with Gold and Silver Embroidery

Based on what is believed to be the 14th century Sakkos of St. Gregory Palamas and now kept in the Vatican Museum, this remarkable sakkos features icons of the Transfiguration of Our Lord on the back, the Ascension on the front and the Communion of the Apostles on the sleeves.

The Transfiguration of the Lord and the uncreated Divine Light occupied a key place in the theology of St. Gregory and the Hesychasts.

Ornamentally, this sakkos belongs to the HILANDAR style from which the remainder of the vestment is taken.

Any festal icon ( Nativity, Epiphany...) can be embroidered on the sakkos back and front and the same applies to the felonion for priest.

A range of matching Chalice sets, altar covers, epigonatia and banners are also available and made to order.

As with all our made to measure vestments, you can add any of the hand embroidered icons seen on our website to the various pieces of vesture.

ABOUT OUR STANDARD SIZING

The stiharion length is adjustable enabling it to be easily lengthened by up to 2 inches (5cm).
The felonion is generously proportioned, the back length finishing 6-8 inches (15-20cm) off the floor.
The RIZA cut will accommodate marginally smaller or larger body types in each size.
The epitrahilion has a slightly dropped front neck for comfortable movement and is finished with tassels at the hem.
Tassels can be shortened by up to 2 inches (5cm) to accommodate personal preference.
