Bursa2 Bishop Made to Order Vestment - Gold with Gold Embroidery

Bursa was once a thriving commercial centre in Asia Minor. For centuries it was once a leading centre for the production of rich gold embroideries and many of the finest Byzantine and post Byzantine silks were made there.

BURSA2 features rich gold embroidery, embellished with sequins, beads and crystals. This particular design expresses that unique fusion of Eastern and European embroidery traditions, characteristic of work produced in Bursa in the 18th century. The two sets pictured feature gold embroidery on gold silk or ivory silk satin.

We recommend a pure silk base fabric in just about any colour, although plush velvets in burgundy or indigo are also popular with those who prefer an overall heavier set of vestments.

As with all our made to measure vestments, you can add any of the hand embroidered icons seen on our website to the various pieces of vesture.

ABOUT OUR STANDARD SIZING

The stiharion length is adjustable enabling it to be easily lengthened by up to 2 inches (5cm).
The felonion is generously proportioned, the back length finishing 6-8 inches (15-20cm) off the floor.
The RIZA cut will accommodate marginally smaller or larger body types in each size.
The epitrahilion has a slightly dropped front neck for comfortable movement and is finished with tassels at the hem.
Tassels can be shortened by up to 2 inches (5cm) to accommodate personal preference.
